Tasteful, not Tasteless

 

You want to design your home to have space, great views with OK materials that don't cost too much but functions well and lasts long. Double picket fences on low walls keep the baddies and animals out with some ventilation so you don't suffocate yourself by not letting any breeze through.

Don't make your house look like a Bin Laden fortress of doom with lifeless barriers and a new World Wonder Great Wall around it. Doesn't matter if you could afford expensive materials if the aesthetics are tasteless and don't match. 3 Stories is not needed unless you want an office building, you won't be able to communicate without either an intercom or shout at the top of your lungs.
