Feng Shui or Feng Tao
Fengshui is a trend that many people like to follow. It gives them a sense that the things they put have an effect on how they do in life.
This is true.... but to a point. If you throw your laundry on the floor all the time you will be frustrated looking at it: bad fengshui. If you build a house in the middle of the river then expect flooding to happen : bad fengshui.
But of course.
So, ok fine. If you like that kind of 'feel-good' sensation, and willing to spend some money on it, so be it. I won't judge. But if you want to follow your fengshui, follow your practical sense. Be aware that most fengshui masters are full of quack and don't know what they are talking about but they just want your money so they will tell you what they think you want to hear. Then they take your money and go Feng Tao. So the most important thing is how the things are arranged to how you feel, not how everyone else feels.
Remember fengshui shops? Where are they now? Most have closed shop. If the fengshui actually worked that wouldn't happen.
Most fengshui masters will contradict each other too. Try and hire two at different times for 'fengshui evaluation' at your house and see just how much they contradict.
If they ask you do ridiculous things, like connecting all the water gutters so that the water flows out at one place, then get another fengshui master. Because the idea of water gutter ducts, especially during our monsoon season, is to carry and discharge the water away as much as possible into one location without splashing the water all over the place. By forcing them all to flow into one pipe, you are just asking for overflowing of the ducts and potentially causing leaks to your ducts or roof over time. Unless you use super huge ducts (e.g. 12 inch ducts or piping), then you won't have that problem, but then your house will look like a set from a children's cartoon show.
Having to move your desk or seating position just because of a beam on the ceiling when you already dont have enough space is stupid. |
Stupid fengshui advice can also destroy harmony instead of making it better. For example, if the spouse constantly bickers about the significant other's placement of cabinets or clocks or whatever petty item because it is facing the wrong direction ("bad" fengshui) or some other superfluous reason, then it is a self-fulfilling prophecy in the making.
